NAME: Kousetsu [Icy Snow]
VILLAGE: Currently resides in the Land of Snow, originates in the Land of Water given that it’s a sister clan to Yuki.
IDENTIFIERS: All of the members are born with black hair that slowly fades to a silver-blue, as well as ice blue eyes that range from a deep navy to a clear, almost white-blue. They are also very delicate and very pale.
KEKKEI GENKAI: Ice-based chakra release. [Hyoton]
KEKKEI GENKAI TYPE: Elemental chakra release.
KEKKEI GENKAI ABILITIES: Ice based chakra release: allows them to create their own ice, turn water into ice, make it snow. The ice that they create from their chakra is impervious to fire and is impossible to melt by conventional methods (Amaterasu being the only exception), but if made from pre-existing ice it can be melted at a slowed [1/3 speed] rate.
HISTORY: Some time ago, when the Five Great Nations were still young, the Land of Water was created on a far set of islands. The people there were happy and fairly prosperous, surviving off of fish and the greens that could be grown in the loamy soil. Peace settled over the land, but not even twenty years later did they find civil unrest bubbling over the cool façade that had settled over the country.
Though the council and Mizukage tried to keep things under wraps, civil war soon exploded throughout the nation. Civillians and villagers were fed up with taxes, with poverty, with being uneducated, with being kept in line by the shinobi of Mizu. The ninja clans of the nation were used to put an end to the wars time after time, and eventually became so powerful that seeing shinobi from the clans meant and omen of death to non-ninja.
Because of the unrest cause by the shinobi clans of Mizu, many went into hiding, including the Yuki clan, the “Ice Demons”, for fear they would either be eliminated or start another civil war. Many of the Yuki clan dispersed over the lands, those who stayed never using their techniques again. Those who went to the Land of Snow were welcomed with a wary glance, but were allocated a compound just outside the walls of Yukigakure no Sato. These clansmen became known as the Kousetsu, users of Hyoton.
Those shinobi who became the Kousetsu clan were a mite old-fashioned, keeping to themselves and only offering their services to the village when they were absolutely necessary. Not one Hyoton user was registered in the Academy unless they came of age and chose to go. Most Kousetsu members are given the rank “Special Jounin”, due to their skills and jutsu expertise.
Like the Hyuuga clan of Konoha, members were split into two groups – the main branch consisted of Yuki members who already had families, and the secondary branch are those who married and reproduced with outsiders and do not have the trait, allowing the offspring to bear the gene that allows for Hyoton release, but making sure the clan is not entirely inbred.
All members of the clan are taught all manners of ettiquite from a very young age, and often work best during undercover missions where they are required to blend in to high society. They are not a poor clan by any means, having taken so many A and S-rank missions. Many of the women who do not go into shinobi training are married off to rich politicians or other clans, being very beautiful and carrying a powerful bloodline. It is little known that the bloodline can only be passed when both parents carry the gene for the limit, making them a rather inborn clan.
Being old-fashioned, women are married off when they are sixteen unless they’re enrolled in ninja training, in which case the wedding is postponed until they are twenty-one. Most women talk their way out of getting married, but are forced at some point to settle down and have children.
Currently aligned with Hozuki; most members loyal to a fault.

THERE'S A LOT OF JUTSU OKAY
- JUTSU NAME:
Hayayaka no Te (Cold Touch) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: E DESCRIPTION: When the user make direct contact with any variation of water, they can freeze, or unfreeze it. Not really useful unless used in conjunction with another jutsu.
- JUTSU NAME:
Yukitama Nageru (Snow Ball Toss) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: E DESCRIPTION: After performing a series of handseals, and saying a few words, the user calls forth chunks of snow that can be used for various purposes, mostly as snowballs. However, this technique is overall quite harmless—the chunks cannot cause any real damage (unless one is taken to the eye) and is mostly something taught to younger clan members to increase their basic control over their elemental release. Occasionally used by older members as a prank.
- JUTSU NAME:
Yuki Kawarimi (Snow substitution) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: E DESCRIPTION: The user performs the appropriate hand seal, which then replaces their body with an oversized snowball. Precisely like a normal kawarimi, except for the substitution product itself.
- JUTSU NAME:
Aisu Shuriken (Ice Shuriken) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: E DESCRIPTION: The user performs a series of three handseals, and puts their hands in water or against a source of ice. They then pull back a sphere of the water/ice, and use their chakra to force it into the shape of a shuriken. The resulting shuriken is made of hard ice, and equals the hardness of a regular one. However, it’s much lighter, and thus can be knocked aside by wind jutsu.
- JUTSU NAME:
Yuki Ryouiki no Jutsu (Snowfield Technique) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: D DESCRIPTION: The user performs a series of handseals, and slams their palms to the ground. The surrounding area then becomes covered in snow. However, the snow is susceptible to the weather already present—if it’s hot out, it will melt slowly – 1/8th of the normal melting speed. Chakra is depleted depending on how much area is covered in snow.
- JUTSU NAME:
Yuki Utsuwa (Snow Container) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: D DESCRIPTION: This jutsu allows for the user to store snow inside of their pores for later use—this is convenient, as it allows the user to be able to always have a source of their element with them at all times. The storing of the snow makes their skin cold to the touch.
- JUTSU NAME:
Tsumetai Kokyuu (Icy Breath) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: D DESCRIPTION: The user performs a series of handseals, and takes a deep breath in. Then, on the exhale, they emit a stream of cold air. Although it is not particularly dangerous or powerful, the jutsu can be a hindrance, sending cold eye into the eyes and temporarily blinding the opponent. In addition, if used by a clan member with high enough control, the user can freeze the moisture in the breath before it reaches the opponent, and instead hit them with small shards of ice (which still aren’t very dangerous, and more so a nuisance/distraction than anything).
- JUTSU NAME:
Sui Souran no jutsu (Water Control Technique) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Suiton/Hyouton RANK: C DESCRIPTION: This is a passive technique, which once performed, allows the user to control water around them with the chakra in their hands and shape/move it. Although non-hyouton users can utilize this technique as well, only those with hyouton release can transform the water into ice at will. It continuously drains on the user’s chakra supply. If concentration is broken, the water/ice will fall to the ground and dissipate until resumed.
- JUTSU NAME:
Yuki Bunshin no Jutsu (Snow Clone Technique) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: D DESCRIPTION: This technique is an almost exact replica of a regular bunshin no jutsu. However, the user makes each clone out of surrounding ice or snow. This jutsu does not require any more chakra than a regular bunshin, and has a hardened, icy outside—however, it has a weakness to fire and heat, and will melt away if made contact with katon. The number of clones made depends on the rank of the user, and their chakra levels.
- JUTSU NAME:
Tsubame Fubuki (Snow Storm Swallows) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: C DESCRIPTION: Utilizing Hyouton release and chakra manipulation, the user creates swallows made of ice. These swallows are then launched at the opponent, and have the ability to change direction as the user directs them, so as to strike the opponent. This jutsu, depending on where it hits, can cause much damage (if a ice beak hits an eye or throat for example), but otherwise is fairly nonlethal. Often used as a technique to help with control in lower ranking clan members.
- JUTSU NAME:
Aisuhirate (Iced Palm) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: C DESCRIPTION: The user performs a series of hand signs, and shoves one or both of their hands into water/snow. The water/snow will surround the hand(s), and be manipulated to form spikes that protrude forward—these spikes are almost as hard as steel, and will last until the ice is allowed to fall from the user’s hands, or until they are snapped away.
- JUTSU NAME:
Aisu no Tate (Shield of Ice) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: C-B DESCRIPTION: The user can draw up a source of water or snow to form a shield of solid ice in front of the user. This shield protects the user from all physical and ninjutsu attacks, and its size depends on the ability of the user. The larger it is, the more chakra it takes to form. The shield can also vary in thickness, which increases its durability.
- JUTSU NAME:
Yuki Disuku (Snow Disks) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: C DESCRIPTION: The user performs a few hand signs, and then slams their palms into the ground. This action forces a pillar of ice to shoot up from the ground (the ground must be wet or snow-covered prior to this). The pillar is about waist level, to which the user kneels in front of it. Then, after sliding their hand over the top of it quickly, a thin disk of ice is sent spinning at the opponent. These disks are very hard and sharp on the edges, acting as spinning circular blades. However, they are large enough that they are fairly easy to avoid if the opponent is paying attention. If they hit, they can cause potentially lethal damage if they strike in soft, exposed areas.
- JUTSU NAME:
Yuki Tsume (Snow claw) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: C DESCRIPTION: The user performs a series of handseals, and, using snow, water, or ice already in the area, surrounds their hand in one of the substances. From there, using chakra manipulation, the user forms claws that surround each finger out of ice, and then the ice hardens to an almost steel strength—it is capable of ripping through flesh and causing much damage. The jutsu will sap bits of chakra continuously from the user.
- JUTSU NAME:
Soshi Kanjiru (Elemental Senses) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: C DESCRIPTION: This is a passive technique—once activated, hyouton users can detect and pinpoint the location of any living thing at a long distance, so long as they are both in contact with the same stretch of snow/ice. For example, if the clan member were to be standing at one end of a snow covered field, and an enemy a mile away on a constant stretch of snow, the user would be able to sense and detect them from that distance.
- JUTSU NAME:
Yukigakure no Tanto (Daggers of the hidden snow) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: C-B DESCRIPTION: The user performs a series of handsigns and raises their hands up to the sky, which then draws snow or ice/water high up in the air. Once the snow/ice/water is high above, it reshapes to form hard ice kunai, which are sharper and thinner than normal blades. After enough of the ice blades are formed, the user throws their hands downwards, sending the kunai towards the ground at a great velocity. The level of this jutsu depends on how many kunai are formed, and how big the area that is covered by the ice kunai ‘cloud.’ A con of this jutsu is that once the kunai are sent down, the user can no longer control trajectory—this jutsu has a high chance of friendly fire, if allies do not avidly work to block or avoid the ice blades, or are not otherwise protected by the user.
- JUTSU NAME:
Yuki Yoroi no Jutsu (“Snow Armor”) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: C-B DESCRIPTION: The user performs a series of handsigns, which summon any surrounding ice/snow/water to the user to form a layer of snow against the skin, which then hardens to form a protective shell. This shell has cracks at all the major joints and bending points, which allows movement, but this ‘armour’ still hinders overall speed and agility of the user. This jutsu’s rank depends on the hardness of the armour, and its overall durability. In addition, some users can form very elaborate and stylized armours that add to protection, versus the very simple and not-as-strong armours formed by newer users.
- JUTSU NAME:
Soshi Nami (Elemental Wave) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: C DESCRIPTION: The user slams their palms into the ground after performing a few handseals, and using ice/snow/water in the area, summons it forward into a wave that surges outwards from their body in a 360 degree manner, in the form of more fluid water. Once the wave begins moving, however, it solidifies back into ice and immobilizes the opponent if it hits, effectively locking them in place unless they can break free of the ice lock—the degree of entrapment depends on the strength and height of the waves, which depends on the user. Though this jutsu does not take much to actually perform, it is very strenuous on the users mind—they must retain their concentration, or else the waves will stop and fall short, and it also leaves them open for attack from above.
- JUTSU NAME:
Yuki Iru no Jutsu (Snow Shoot technique) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: C DESCRIPTION: The user concentrates chakra to their hands, and, putting their palms together and extending them out, is able to blast a stream of snow at the opponent. The snow from there can be hardened into an ice beam, or allowed to simply beat down on the opponent. A con is that the user has to keep their hands together while using this jutsu, and typically stand still to stay stable. In addition, the longer the distance from user to opponent, the more chakra the jutsu takes, and the more it wears down on the user.
- JUTSU NAME:
Aisuken (Iced Blade) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: C DESCRIPTION: The user performs a series of handsigns, and either a) takes a weapon such as a sword or kunai, and uses their chakra to coat it or line it in much sharper ice that can also elongate the blade and reinforce it, or b) create a blade made completely of ice, though this blade will be more likely to break at the hilt/blade conjecture. The strength of this version of the technique depends on the users kenjutsu expertise, as well.
- JUTSU NAME:
Kisen Taito Hoban (Descending Snows Release) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: B DESCRIPTION: The user performs a series of handsigns, which then summons forth storm clouds. After they cover the immediate area, snow/ice will begin to fall. Depending on the strength of the user, the snowfall can be heavy or light, sleet or ice, or, in the more advanced cases, be used to shape the individual precipitants into sharper ice drops that both distract, and if with enough force, can actually cause harm to the opponent. However, the sheer amount of chakra that goes into that kind of control saps greatly at the user. Can only be used once per battle, and typically towards the beginning to set up a way to perform most other jutsu.
- JUTSU NAME:
Furosuto no Yoroi (Frost Armor) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: B DESCRIPTION: Similar to Yuki Yoroi no Jutsu, the user calls ice to their skin to form a thin layer of ice that solidifies against them, with cracks along major joints and moving points. It’s lighter than Yuki Yoroi, and allows for more movement—in addition, the fact it is made of the steel-like ice versus the hardened snow gives it a higher protection effect, and is more suitable to protect against physical attacks. However, the secondary effect also makes it a more desirable technique during battle. If the opponent attacks physically, and strikes the armour, ice will jump from the armour to the opponent, effectively freezing the part that strikes by covering it in ice. This version takes much more chakra to create and sustain.
- JUTSU NAME:
Haryuu Mouko (Destruction Dragon Fierce Tiger) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: A DESCRIPTION: The user performs a series of handseals and slams their palms against the ground, which needs to be covered in ice or snow. This summons forth a large tiger made of ice, which will remain around as long as the user lends its chakra to its being. The tiger’s large mass causes massive amounts of damage if it lands any kind of strike, and its claws and teeth are both comprised of the sharp steel-like ice. This jutsu requires a massive amount of jutsu to sustain, and therefore usually only lasts one attack of the tiger. However, more skilled clans members can keep the tiger going for a whole battle, and use this technique as a trump/end card.
- JUTSU NAME:
Suiton - Shimo Sensuifu (Water Type - Frost Diver) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: B DESCRIPTION: The user slams their palms into the ground (which must be coated in ice or snow beforehand), which sends their chakra into the snow/ice, and makes large spikes shoot up from the ground. These spikes can be used to entrap an opponent, though it is hard to get a direct penetrative hit. Depending on the range of the spike and how far it comes up from the user, it uses more chakra.
- JUTSU NAME:
Aisushienjinn no Jutsu (Four Walled Ice Imprisonment) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: B (if with others), A (if alone) DESCRIPTION: Usually this jutsu is performed with the aid of three other fellow hyouton users. Each ninja will concentrate chakra to their palms before kneeling and putting them to the ground, which then summons forth a thick wall of ice/snow. They shoot up very quickly to begin with, and entrap the opponent between four different walls. The walls are near impossible to break from the inside, and impossible to melt due to the characteristics of the ice. This technique is easier to perform if done by a large source of ice/snow, and the ground must be covered in it for it to be performed. If this jutsu is done alone, it takes (predictably) four times the amount of chakra, and is used as an end game move. Only once per battle. After the walls are formed and trap the opponent, the user(s) can use their control over ice to cause the walls to fall in on the opponent, effectively crushing them in a snow/ice prison.
CONS: Constantly drains chakra while in use, can only be used once per thread, requires more than one user.
- JUTSU NAME:
Iteru no Jutsu (Flash Freeze Technique) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: A DESCRIPTION: The user runs through a series of handsigns, and then concentrates their efforts into water on the ground around them. There must be water on the ground for this technique to work. Following this, the user then turns the water into ice, which compounds on itself to form a thicker layer which can be used in many of the other hyouton techniques.
CONS: …Ice is slippery. Takes at least 1/16th of the user’s chakra.
- JUTSU NAME:
Yukikage Buunshin no Jutsu (Snow-Shadow clone) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: A DESCRIPTION: These clones are exactly the same as a regular kage bunshin, save for the fact they are made of snow and ice. They last longer than a usual snow clone, and have the ability to perform jutsu and scout information for the user. However, they require much chakra to form, and therefore only higher levelled ninja can perform it. The number made depends on the chakra supply of the user. Usually used as a first-strike move instead of end-game.
CONS: …Has no more ill effects than a normal bunshin jutsu. Takes a considerable amount of chakra to produce more than five.
- JUTSU NAME:
Rouga Nadare no Jutsu ("Wolf Fang Avalance") JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: A DESCRIPTION: After forming the needed handsigns, the user summons forth an avalanche of snow and ice. This wave of snow and ice then morphs to form into large snow wolves, triple the size of normal wolves. The number of wolves formed depends on the snow available (which depends on either surroundings or how much snow the user has formed throughout the course of the battle), and on the chakra supply of the user. No more than three can usually be formed at once. These wolves are controlled by the user, and be ordered to attack and chase for long periods of time. However, they will break down the further away they get from their master. Only once per battle.
CONS: Wolves break down when they get far away, needs snowy area, can use once per thread, no more than three formed at once.
- JUTSU NAME:
Hyourou no Jutsu (Ice Prison Technique) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: A DESCRIPTION: The user performs a series of handseals, and kneels to touch the ground. After sending their chakra into the ice on the ground (there must be ice or snow there to perform this jutsu), columns of ice shoot up to try and ‘grab’ at the opponent. These columns manage to touch the opponent, they become stuck and immediately are engulfed in a full column of ice, effectively imprisoning them. This jutsu is difficult to do speedily, and can sap the chakra supplies very fast if too many attempts are made. However, once the opponent is caught, it’s near impossible for them to get out given the fact their hands will be restrained and they won’t be able to perform jutsu.
CONS: Constantly drains chakra while in use, slow to start, can hit allies, etc.
- JUTSU NAME:
Kakenoyami (Demonic Ice Trap) JUTSU TYPE: Kekkei Genkai ELEMENT: Hyouton RANK: S DESCRIPTION: This ninjutsu requires a massive knowledge of hyouton, and also a massive amount of chakra to be able to perform it. After going through the necessary handsigns, the area where the user and the opponent are standing, in about a fifteen foot radius, plummets down about ten metres. Ice spikes will then shoot up from the ground and from the side of the pit, which the user can use their hyouton affiliation to avoid themselves. The ice will grab at the opponent, and then spike them to death. The only way to escape from this jutsu would be to somehow shoot up high enough to get out of the pit, but this is extremely difficult because as soon as the jutsu is performed, the ice will attempt to engulf the opponent.
CONS: Constantly drains chakra while in use, can hit allies, can only be used once per thread, if the enemy is fast enough they can escape, etc.
