  This is where our story breaks apart from canon. Gaara was captured and killed by Akatsuki members Deidara and Sasori, and was later rescued and revived by Naruto and CO, and everybody went home happy.

  In this span of time, there was mostly peace-- a few fights and missions perhaps gone wrong, but the Akatsuki fell into the back of everyone's minds, there was no wars, and overall, it was a calm before the storm kind of period.

  It was in this year that the 'gang' Kurai was formed by the Lady of Otogakure, Seishou Miyoko. It began as a very under-the-table operation, from petty crime to minor misdeamnours in the shinobi world. At first, the villages blamed the Akatsuki, which had become nothing more of a whisper in the past two years, though this was never validated. It was apparent however, that something much larger was brewing beneath the surface.

→ NEXT THREE YEARS [Year 2-5 A.C.][/color]

  Throughout the next three years, Kurai grew. First it infiltrated the smaller villages, before penetrating the Great Nations. It is in this time the whole structure began to fall-- the Shinobi order collapsed, and towards the end, Kurai captured the Godaime Hokage, Tsunade, and imprisoned her.

→ THREE YEARS AGO [Year 5 A.C.][/color]

• Hozuki starts NOW.
  
• Fumetsuhi started NOW.
  

  Three years after Kurai began its takeover and the Shinobi world toppled, a rebel group, led by Konoha kunoichi, Haruno Sakura, was formed. Hozuki fought against Kurai, sending in spies, releasing prisoners, and overall trying to stop them before it was too late. In addition, Uchiha Madara formed a neo-Akatsuki group called Fumetsuhi, with the goal of capturing the Bijuu for an ultimate end-- they would capture seven of nine Bijuu, and also Kumo and Suna.

→ TWO YEARS AGO [Year 6 A.C.][/color]

• Fumetsuhi betrayed and destroyed NOW.

Fumetsuhi member Kyoshoku Kemuri and Kurai leader Seishou Miyoko, in a combined effort, destroyed and brought down Fumetsuhi. Hozuki continues its effort against the Kurai.

→ ONE YEAR AGO [Year 7 A.C.][/color]

• Akatsuki reformed NOW.
  
• Hozuki's primary camp destroyed-- relocation to Yuki/Kiri NOW.

Since Fumetsuhi was destroyed, an opportunistic nukenin took advantage and reformed the group under its former name of Akatsuki-- they are centered in Kumo. Seishou Miyoko, after having finally managed to find the primary Hozuki camp in Konoha, captured their leader Haruno Sakura and completely destroyed the camp, forcing the remaining rebels north, to Yukigakure.

→ CURRENT [Year 8 A.C.][/color]

• Akatsuki has unknown motives, but rules in Kumo solidly
  
• Kurai has continued to expand
  
• Hozuki [now led by Uzumaki Naruto] is relocated to [in public] Yukigakure, while also having bases in Kirigakure [unknown]

Currently, the main battles being waged are between the Akatsuki and Kurai-- Hozuki is no longer viewed as a threat, leaving to clear to infiltrate either side. Uzumaki Naruto leads them now, though he is making efforts to rescue the former leader and his best friend, Haruno Sakura, who is still imprisoned in a high security Kurai prison.
