" A smile is the easiest way out of a difficult situation." – Haruno Sakura, age 16
→ appearance |→eyes ||
Sakura’s eyes a glimmering shade of viridian, a complete contrast to her bright hair. Large and expressive, they often reveal her emotions even though she wishes to keep them hidden. A strong will has been instilled in her, and can often be seen burning underneath. Crowned with surprisingly long, dark lashes, Sakura believes these are her best feature.
→hair ||
Her hair is such an uncommon shade of strawberry blonde that it is actually pink, and comes courtesy of her mother. It has a near unnatural sheen to it and a choppy nature when short, but since growing it out one length ( to mid-back) it has taken to falling into one silky sheet around her shoulders. She often ties it back in the two trademark pigtails of her shishou. She takes immaculate care of it, and doesn’t plan on cutting it any time soon.
→height and weight ||
On the short side, Sakura is 5’6” and weighs 125 pounds, though it is currently less from her imprisonment.
→body type ||
Sakura's figure has also blossomed beautifully, filling out in all the right places. Her skin is flawless apart from the narrow scar on her abdomen, her legs lean and nearly sinful in their perfection. She does not bind her chest anymore—she prefers to show off the 'goods'—but does not notice when she is being checked out, drooled over, hit on, etc.
→ proper equipment |
Sakura is very partial to the colour red, but has long since changed her outfit from her Chuunin days. Now she wears a modified ANBU uniform – tight-fitting black turtleneck with no sleeves, loose black pants, knee-high boots and a toned-down grey vest. Elbow-high gloves complete the outfit, as well as her hitai-ate tied around her head like a headband.
→ identifiers |
Her pink hair is normally the first thing remembered, but that’s the only thing people really remember. She also has a long, narrow scar from her battle with Sasori, when he ran her through with a sword. It was a fatal wound, and though Sakura could have gotten rid of the scar she wants to keep it; a constant reminder of her newfound strength. The only other thing is a small diamond on her forehead, an odd shade of purple, which is the trademark seal of the Genesis of Rebirth technique, and the ever-popular ANBU tattoo.
→ strengths |
Paperwork, healing, running over trees, destroying thingslike a man’s pride, being empathetic, her versatility, her intelligence, being a tactician, recognizing genjutsu, persevering through situations.
→ weaknesses |
Her friends, being taunted about her flaws, being reminded of Genin days, low chakra stores, losing her focus due to anger, emotional, losing someone close to her, Sasuke, Naruto and the rest of her boys, important people, low physical strength (apart from Gouwan), and she can’t say “no” sometimes.
→ personality |
Sakura was timid and shy in her early life, generally keeping to herself and watching the other children play whilst she tried to hide. She was teased for her forehead, until one day Yamanaka Ino told her to stop hiding; it only made it worse. Sakura loved her for this, and started pulling her hair back and speaking to the other children, slowly becoming more outspoken.
When she entered the academy she had already seen Uchiha Sasuke, and focused all of her attention to impressing him; growing out her hair, agreeing with everything he said, never leaving him alone, even for a minute. She was loud, annoying and a crybaby, but still possessed the beginnings of the strong will that would make her into the kunoichi that she is today. Sakura was horrible to Naruto, never thinking of his feelings even once, generally dismissing them as annoying. She is slightly oblivious to people’s feelings for her now, however, unless they are open about it.
When Sasuke left she realized how horribly foolish she had been, and matured herself to accommodate the new situation. She refused to allow herself to be weak during a time like this, and asked Naruto to bring Sasuke back. When he answered the way he did she gained newfound respect for him, realizing that he really was one hell of a ninja, and a boy. This led to her friendship with him, and Sakura values it every day of her life. She also harbors residual feelings for Sasuke, but has moved and is open and available.
After training with Tsunade, Sakura gained her strength, and the attitude that she uses to persevere. Sakura works hard, and does not appreciate when people are not working; she tends to get angry and tell people off. As she grew up even further she grew someone cynical, but still retains a good sense of humour, considering that she deals with Naruto on a daily basis.
Sakura is quick to laugh, cry, be angry, and to forgive. She is extremely emotion-based, even though she underwent conditioning during her time as ANBU. Those she helps are perceptive of her kind, compassionate nature, and Sakura can never turn down someone in need, no matter what. She would use the last of her chakra to keep someone safe, and those who are close know this well.
She is perceptive of other’s emotions, but is quite oblivious when it comes to anything concerning her; she needs someone to just tell it like it is, and not skirt around. She can deal with others’ emotions, and is a good shoulder to cry on, even if it is four in the morning and she has a mission the next day. Always a sucker for a sad story and cute eyes, people know that they can turn to her and she will keep their secrets.
Now that everything is turning dark, however, Sakura has become a lot more sombre and mature. She is a rebellion leader now, and a new sense of responsibility is now on her shoulders; she is making decisions and creating tactics to keep them all alive.
Ever since her capture by the Kurai, she’s become quiet and very cold, her empathy near-gone – she doesn’t trust anyone, nor does she believe in herself. She’s just watching… waiting for an opportunity to escape.

Well, Gouwan, and she can move to either long-range or short range. She is primarily jutsu-based, but her flaws in taijutsu are easily masked with a press of chakra and a loud yell. She likes to use the things around her to get her point across—it is not uncommon to be swung at with a full-grown tree.

“Same as always... I can only do the dumbest of things for Naruto” – Haruno Sakura, ages 16, 18 and 21[/center]

- Haruno Toru [Father | 51 | Deceased | Killed in Kurai raid]
- Haruno Ayame [Mother | 40 | Deceased | Killed during Invasion of Konoha]
→ friends |
Her best friend is one Uzumaki Naruto, but there are many others.
→ history |Twenty-five years ago, Haruno Toru was employed within the walls of Konoha after being rejected continuously as a ninja for lack of chakra. He met the secretary to the Hokage, Shibire Ayame, and almost immediately fell in love. She was impressed by his devotion, and not even a year later the two were happily married, still living in the village that the two had grown up in. Three years into their marriage Ayame conceived, and nine months later she produced a girl—pale with pink hair and startling green eyes. They named her Haruno Sakura, their cherry blossom. Little did they know the legacy that the young woman would leave behind.
Young Sakura was raised in a rather warm and gentle atmosphere, with no pressures from society or her parents. They wanted nothing more than for their daughter to be happy, and raised her by teaching the young girl everything that she would ever need to know. Even at a young age her intelligence was incredible, and she was speaking by the time she was four years old. Not once did they think of testing her for ninja abilities, but instead sent her out to play every day with the fellow children of Konohagakure. She was happy until she grew up a bit, and her forehead became more prominent.
From there she was teased continuously, and used to use her bangs to hide the ‘billboard brow’ as she cried alone. It was hard for her to make friends, as she felt shy and inadequate. Sakura felt very alone and isolated until one day, Yamanaka Ino quite literally pulled her from her shell, telling her that she was being silly by hiding her face.“When you wear your bangs like that, you look like a sheepdog… Or a shy little ghost.”
Ino grinned at her, and told her that she knew a way to help her make friends. She had to be confident—and to prove that, the blonde gave her a red ribbon to hold her bangs back, and helped to introduce her to some friends. It wasn’t long until Sakura saw Sasuke walking with his brother one day, and claimed to fall in love with him. She was about six at the time, and it was then that she found out that he was going to be a shinobi… and that every other girl her age said she loved him. That did not stop Sakura, however, and she decided that she was going to try out for the Academy.
As it turns out she had a promising mind and an excellent flow of chakra, considering that she was from a civilian clan. Her parents were not exactly unhappy, but her father became slightly colder to her after that. Sakura eventually realized it was because she was finally living his dream: to be a ninja. It did not hamper her progress, however, and she tried her best in all the classes, but instead of focusing on the practical aspects of shinobi training, she was more intent on books and theory. She realized that she needed to try a bit harder after segregating from the males like the other kunoichi, and Ino finally surpassed her in something: flower arranging.
Needless to say, Sakura felt her inadequacy creeping up on her, and finally one day she asked Ino why she had bothered to help her in the first place.
“Because it was a waste to see a bud wither away on the vine..”
“Oh… Well, if you’re a cosmos Ino, I must be like the purple trousers.”
“Why’s that?”
“Because you’re so beautiful, and I’m more of a compliment, right?”
“Don’t say that. You’re still a bud, Sakura. And one day, that bud might turn out even prettier than the cosmos!”
Once again Ino had made her feel like she was worth something again. Sakura valued her friendship more than anything, but one day Sakura found out that Sasuke liked girls with long hair—something she thought would give her an edge—and told Ino that she was going to grow hers out. After a while Sakura noticed that Ino’s hair was getting longer as well, and knew then that Ino was after Sasuke, too. It almost hurt her to give back the ribbon, and finally say goodbye to Ino now that they were Genin. The two shook hands for one last time, and vowed not to wear their headbands on their foreheads until they could face each other as true shinobi.“I guess this makes us rivals…”
Those were Sakura’s last words before the two began their bitter rivalry, name-calling and being catty at every opportunity. Of course this was before Sakura was assigned to a team, but soon enough the new Genin were organized into three man squads. Sakura had determined that she was going to avoid Naruto at any costs, but was teamed up with both her crush and the one crushing on her, and so began the legacy of the infamous Team Seven. Naruto constantly fought with Sasuke over everything—who was better, who was taller (he was the shortest), and who would get Sakura’s favour, even though Sasuke didn’t care and Sakura claimed to hate Naruto.
They were assigned a sensei, Hatake Kakashi, the Copycat Ninja. Naruto had to pull a prank on him—whom Sakura loved—and Kakashi claimed to hate all of them (much to Naruto’s dismay) and then take them for the interviews. Of course those didn’t blow over well, what with Sakura’s fawning over Sasuke, Sasuke’s indifference, Naruto being obnoxious and Kakashi just being… Kakashi. They were told to meet their new sensei in training ground three the next day for their first exercise, and that they were not to eat breakfast.
Obedient as always, Sakura was the first one there, followed by Naruto and Sasuke. Kakashi was a good hour or so late, and that was when they got down to business. Kakashi explained the exercise, and they were instructed to strike to kill. Naruto was the first one out of the gate, not even waiting until Kakashi said go before launching into attack. After he was taught a lesson they were released, and Sakura made it her mission to team up with Sasuke so Naruto would get tied to the stump and not get any lunch. This did not turn out well—Naruto ended up in a trap, Sakura in a Genjutsu, and Sasuke beat easily after deeming he was going to work alone. Needless to say, they failed getting the bells.
Kakashi was a bit peeved at how that exercise went, and Naruto ended up tied to the stump because he tried to steal the bento (and was caught). He told Sakura and Sasuke that they could eat, but no sharing with Naruto.“No sharing with Naruto. If you do, you fail. My word is law.”
Of course they would be training afterwards, and all of them would need their energy. Kakashi left, leaving Sakura and her team alone. Naruto did not complain, but Sasuke insisted on sharing with Naruto—he was useless if he was just going to be a liability. Sakura did the same, and out of nowhere there was a huge POOF and Kakashi was right there. The moment was quite literally an OSHI— moment, and they thought they were in massive trouble…
But they passed. The first team that Kakashi ever deemed suitable.
They were then allowed to leave, but of course Naruto was left behind. Some time passed, and they worked completing various missions for the Hokage so that they would gain some experience. Their first major mission came when they were told to escort Tazuna to Kiri (Naruto whined about D-rank missions), and it was the first time they ever had a true brush with danger. Not even twenty minutes outside the gates their party was attacked by the Demon Brothers, their target unknown. Sakura was told to protect Tazuna, and Kakashi dispatched them easily. It was then he asked Tazuna for the truth, and they found out that protecting the old man should have been an A-rank—he was under target by Gatô, the shipping lord.
All went fairly well until they got to Mist, and were attacked yet again—this time by one of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, the demon Momochi Zabuza. Kakashi once again jumped into action to protect his team, exposing his Sharingan to the Uchiha—he was freaked out, and Sakura really didn’t understand what was going on. Once again she was left in the background, watching as her comrades fought to protect her. She didn’t so much mind at the time, but before Zabuza could be destroyed he was struck down by a mysterious shinobi in a mask, apparently a hunter-nin. Zabuza appeared dead, so the team let it slide—Sakura asked Kakashi what a hunter-nin did, and was kind of grossed out but was curious regardless. She picked up the habit of reading medical books after that.
They reached Tazuna’s house without much else, and met his daughter and grandson, Tsunami and Inari. Kakashi needed time to recover from using his Sharingan, but he continued to train them regardless…. If you could call it that. They climbed trees using chakra control to adhere to the bark.
Naruto said he’d be the first one up, and Sasuke just ‘hn’d’ at the thought, but Sakura was determined to prove that she was worth something to Sasuke. Using her surprisingly excellent chakra control she got up the tree on her very first try. Course, this meant that the next few days she was in charge of guarding Tazuna while the boys trained, but she loved to gloat about how she had beaten Naruto. Over the next two days she toured around the village, and was dismayed at how terrible things seemed within it. There was nothing notable until Kakashi healed—and apparently Zabuza had as well. Sasuke had completed his training, as had Naruto, but they allowed the dobe to sleep while they went to protect Tazuna.
APPARENTLY KILLING TAZUNA WAS IMPORTANT, SO ONCE AGAIN THEY WERE ATTACKED (redundancy is redundant, you know). Both Zabuza and Haku were there, and this time Kakashi had to take Zabuza while Sasuke fought Haku. Sakura was left, once again, watching their backs because she was the weak link, but sadly enough she was aware of this fact and knew that it was the only thing she do. The battle raged on for some time before Naruto finally showed up, surprising everyone with their tactics. Sakura herself was even impressed with him. Sasuke and Naruto worked together to fight Haku, but somehow Sasuke ended up being impaled with senbon and, as it looked, killed.
You can imagine the effect this had on Sakura. She cried but could do nothing, instead reciting shinobi rule number thirty-four to herself.“A s-shinobi… cannot show emotion. T-they are t-t-tools: they don’t… they don’t f-f-eel.”
The battle raged on, however, and with Sasuke’s ‘demise’ Naruto reached a whole new level of power—his Kyuubi chakra began to bleed into the air. Sakura could feel it, and was almost afraid… How could that be her teammate? She watched as he pummelled Haku wordlessly, surprised at the situation. Before Naruto could finish him, however, he disappeared and took the Chidori that was meant for Zabuza. It was tragic, and Sakura was still crying when Gatô’s men showed up to finish them. Zabuza, unstable because of Haku’s death, took a kunai and slaughtered nearly half of the opposing men. It was shocking to watch, but Sakura knew that someday she would have to kill a person.
The swordsman eventually met his demise, and Team Seven held a short funeral for Haku and Zabuza to honour their memory and what they stood for before returning home. They trained continuously, and Sakura was somewhat changed by the experience. She worked harder so that she would be able to protect her teammates, but she still felt lost in the shuffle. This only grew worse when Kakashi enrolled them in the Chuunin exams. She knew she was not ready, but went along anyway.
Arriving at the exam was easy enough, and she saw right through the Genjutsu that was their first challenge. That was when she met Rock Lee—and he proclaimed his love and unwavering desire to protect her. She was rather disgusted by this, and tried to push it out of her head as they prepared for the first exam. Walking into the classroom she was shocked to see how many people were there, but did not say anything as she took her seat and listened to Ibiki explain the rules.
It was a pass-fail exam, and there was no cheating. Sakura was immediately nervous about Naruto’s abilities, considering that if he failed, they all would. When it started she pushed it out of her mind, hoping that he would find a way to pass this test. Sakura herself was able to answer all the questions on her own, no matter how complex they were. Apparently this was nearly unheard of—there were only five other Genin that had done so—and it caught Ino’s attention, so Sakura was Pig’s secret weapon. She was unaware of the fact that Sakura would remember this, though she was a bit flattered that people actually thought she was intelligent.
When she was finished her test she waited in earnest to find out what would happen next. When it finally came down to the tenth question it turns out that either you answered or didn’t: if you didn’t you failed, and if you answered it wrong, you failed and could never be a shinobi again.
In all honesty Sakura thought that was a really fail situation, but elected to keep quiet. She worried once again over Naruto, and was hoping that when he raised his hand that he was going to quit, but he didn’t. She liked his resolve, and knew that there was no way Sasuke would quit, so they had a pretty good chance. All that needed to happen now was the actually question, dammit…
But apparently, that was the final question, and by taking it they passed the first exam. All the other questions were irrelevant and had nothing to do with passing or failing, much to Sakura’s disbelief and reprieve. They had passed the first exam, and were soon introduced to their second proctor—Mitarashi Anko.
Sakura’s first impression was that this woman was batshit crazy, but she kept her mouth shut and followed along to the Forest of Death to deal with the second exam. It was a survival test, and they had to get to the tower with a pair of corresponding scrolls within five days. Easy enough, she supposed, but there had to be a damn good reason it was called the ‘Forest of Death’… And there were so many ninja that seemed shady. There was one team that gave her goosebumps, but it would be easy if they could avoid them…
Their first day went fine, and there was nothing to note other than their travels. But on the second day, they encountered a trio of what appeared to be Kusagakure Genin, but it was soon revealed to be none other than Orochimaru. Sakura was terrified: she could not speak or move, instead watching Naruto and Sasuke fight themselves to the brink. Sasuke ended up branded with a curse seal, Naruto fainted from chakra depletion, and Sakura was left all alone to find a place to hide and wait for the boys to heal. She was skittish and worried, hoping that they would awake soon, and that the mark on Sasuke’s neck would be fine…
It did not take long until they were targeted by a trio of Oto nin bent on killing Sasuke. Sakura defended them to the best of her ability, setting traps and distracting them while trying to find a way out of this mess. She ended up captured by the female of the team, Kin, who criticized her for having such long, beautiful hair.“What’s this supposed to be? The ninja art of deep-conditioning?”
Sakura was rather offended by the comment, and it was then that she decided that no more would she be the weak link. She took a kunai from her holster, ignoring the rude remarks from the Otonin before bringing it to her head. Sakura sliced off her own hair just above Kin’s grip, finally showing that she was no longer such a weakling. She was through watching her comrade’s backs: it was bad enough that Lee had stepped into the fight just to save her once more. First Naruto, then Sasuke, and now Lee… She was through.“I’m tired of watching from behind… Always looking at my friends’ backs. That won’t happen anymore—now it’s your turn to watch my back!
She held out for as long as she could, and help finally arrived in the form of Ino’s team. The young kunoichi was obviously surprised at the appearance of her rival, but was immensely grateful when they helped to fend off the Otonin. It was then that Neji and Tenten appeared to retrieve Lee, but by that point Sasuke had woken up and was going on a bit of a rampage, pummelling those who had hurt Sakura. She was terrified to see him this way, and finally stopped him by holding back his arms. The curse mark receded, and the Otonin got away. The exams then progressed from there, the teams splitting up once more to find their matching scrolls.
The seal was a constant worry for Sakura as they continued through the exam to the point of her not thinking straight. On the fourth day Naruto suggested that they open the scrolls, and she nearly did it with him, too, if not for Kabuto stopping them. The trio was surprised to see the bespectacled nin there, but he lectured them into rethinking that choice and helped them find their way to the tower in the centre on the fifth day. Before they arrived, however, they were engaged in battle with a few Kiri nin, but it was Naruto who came up with a plan to beat them. As it turned out they had the earth scroll, the one that they needed. Finally they stepped into the tower and completed the second exam.
They were informed there that now there were too many applicants for the third and final exam, and would have to battle there and then for rights to get into the exam. The Genin had the choice to either drop out there or continue, and Sakura then nearly seized the chance to make her team quit the exam, all for Sasuke. Her worry for the seal was growing, knowing that it was causing him considerable pain, but she was told to keep her mouth shut and just do the exam. It was a bit of a disappointment, but she watched as her teammates competed and won their matches. A spark was ignited in her: she did not want to be the only one on her team to lose her match… But as the fates had it, she was paired up with the one and only Yamanaka Ino.
Both kunoichi found themselves in a tough situation, devising various plans to beat one another. The fact that they were old rivals only added fuel to the fire, and finally Ino pulled a dirty trick by slicing off her own hair to snare Sakura in her Shintensen. Oddly enough, Sakura’s Inner personality somehow managed to shove Ino out of her consciousness, and it finally boiled down to a Taijutsu fight. Sakura fought with all she had, but with one final punch both of them were knocked out and eliminated from the competition. When they finally woke, Ino handed Sakura back her headband, grinning now that she knew how much the pink-haired girl had grown.
“You’ve blossomed into a beautiful flower.”
[/i]Now that her match was over, she watched her way through Hinata’s match and a few others before Lee competed against Gaara. Sakura had a bad feeling about this match, and much to her dismay the gut feeling was right: Lee lost, and failure was not the only bad thing… Apparently Lee would never be a shinobi again. It was terrible news, and Sakura felt bad over it for quite some time. She visited him in the hospital, making trips to Sasuke’s room as well, but the Uchiha was gone after the first night. This worried her to no end—of course there was no concern for Naruto at this point, but when the final exam rolled around she was excited nonetheless.
The last exam was incredible to watch: all the matches were done so well, and of course there were a few surprises. To everyone’s shock Naruto won against Neji, making Sakura incredibly happy for him as well as her respect going up. The other matches went by as a blur, as she was looking forward to Sasuke’s match the most… But he was not there. Sakura waited nervously for him to arrive, as he would have to forfeit if he was not on time, but they moved his match to last. A sigh of relief, and she spectated the final few matches before the one she was waiting for: Sasuke versus Gaara.
Of course, Sasuke had been training with Kakashi and was late, but the match did get underway. Nearly terrifying in its intensity, Sakura feared for his health, but that was nothing compared to what would be next. As the match progressed Gaara began to lose control, and that was when Sand and Sound decided it would the perfect time to invade. Kabuto, and undercover Otonin, casted a Genjutsu to make the crowd fall asleep. Sakura noticed immediately and dispelled it, being one of the only Genin—the other was Shikamaru—to do so. They realized that Sasuke had run off after Gaara in all the confusion, and Kakashi assigned them a simple mission: rescue Sasuke.
Along with Shikamaru, Naruto, and one of Kakashi’s ninken (Pakkun, who she later found out used the same shampoo as her), they set out to do so. As it happens they were followed by nine Otonin, all Chuunin or above, and had to break up so that they could continue on the mission. Shikamaru stayed behind while she and Naruto continued on.
When they arrived at the scene, Gaara had transformed his arm into sand: he was becoming more demon like as the moments passed. Sasuke had collapsed from overuse of the curse seal, and when Gaara went to attack, Sakura took the initiative to try and stop the blow. This resulted in her becoming ensnared in a sand death trap and thus passed out. She does not recall any of the battle—she woke up in the hospital some days later, sore and confused. She confronted Sasuke to thank him for rescuing her, but he told her that it was, in fact, Naruto that did so. This was surprising, but comforting in an odd sort of way. Her respect was continuing to grow for the blonde.
It was not too long after this that Sakura began to notice Sasuke’s desire for power growing stronger, realizing that he is going to play right into Orochimaru’s hands. She tried so hard to keep Sasuke in the village, to save him from the darkness she knew would consume him, but one day it was just too much. Sakura knew what he was going to do, and wanted to stop it right at the roots. She went and waited at the exit of Konoha, sitting on a stone bench until he arrived. He stopped when she called, and she used everything she had to try and convince him not to go—she declared that she loved him, even that she would go just to be with him.
"I... I love you with all my heart!... If you were to stay here with me, there would be no regrets... because every day we'd do something fun, we'd be happy I swear!... I would do anything for you! so... Please just stay with me!"
He seemed unaffected by her words, calling her annoying, though with a smirk. Sakura threatened to scream and alert the guards as tears streamed down her face, desperately trying to make him see reason and not do this. It would tear her and Naruto apart—she knew that though the two were ‘rivals’ that they were also the best of friends. But even this failed: he disappeared and reappeared behind her, whispering three words into her ear.
“Sakura… Thank you.”
[/center][/color]With that he knocked her unconscious and laid her on the bench, leaving in the middle of the night. The next morning she awoke to Izumo and Kotetsu asking why she was on a bench, and she blurted out her tale. It was then that they went to inform the new Hokage, the slug princess Tsunade. She formed a Sasuke retrieval team that did not include Sakura: instead she had to stay behind, once again watching from the sidelines. She begged Naruto to bring Sasuke back, and he promised her. She waited for him to return, but when he did the mission ended in failure. Naruto was hospitalized, and apologized for not fulfilling his promise. Inspired by his determination and knowing that she could no longer be useless, she confronted Tsunade and asked her to take her on as her apprentice.
I am honestly wondering if anyone is reading this shit, because it’s really boring and I can’t believe that I’m actually over four thousand words now. Just to appease you all I hope to make it over nine thousand, but that doesn’t mean that I’m going to make this easy on you. Honestly, if you’re reading this, you’re either a really good admin or about as bored as me. And if you actually make it to the end of this thing, tell me! Tell me you saw this! If you don’t, I’ll be sad. That means you’re a skimmer and then all this work will go to waste, so mreh, I’mma continue now… Back to manga seriousness mode.
Over two years Sakura was trained incessantly and intensely, never once wavering in her desire to become a medic. She was so determined to do this for herself that she pushed everything to the limit, and Tsunade was impressed by this and taught her a bit more than jutsu medical jutsu. With this knowledge Sakura moved on and signed up for the Chuunin exams, this time passing with flying colours. She kept her hair short, even though she changed her style to showcase her newfound maturity and skill. The sixteen year old pined for her friend to return, and one day he did.
Much to Sakura's surprise, Naruto had grown and was now (finally) taller than she. She was pleased to see that he had matured... Well, that was until he decalred he had a new pervy ninjutsu to Konohamaru, and she promptly punched him in the face, proceeding to beat the living crap out of him. Kakashi stopped her, however, telling the two that he was going to once again be on a team with them... But this time as fellow shinobi. They headed out to training ground three to begin the bell test once more. Naruto once more started before Kakashi said go, but this time his moves and timing had improved. When their sensei said go and disappeared, Sakura was the first to figure out that he had gone underground. In a display of her new skills, Sakura smashed the ground wide open, much to both her teammates surprise.
“If this display is any indication of her skill, she might even end up a greater kunoichi than Lady Fifth!”
The test progressed smoothly, Kakashi not taking the two lightly and Naruto coming up with a plan to get the bells. In one fell swoop, Sakura and Naruto captured the bells and thus passed the test. Oddly enough, after the test Naruto said they should go out for ramen (of course Kakashi ditched) and Sakura agreed to go out with just him—not like a date, though. As much respect as she had for the boy, she did not quite think dating him would be a good idea. He was more of the best friend type at the time, as much as Sakura knew that Naruto still had that lingering crush. It was a bit unfortunate, but only time would tell their future...
The next day they were going to the Kage tower for a mission when an urgent scroll came in from Suna: Gaara had been capture by Akatsuki, and Kankurou had been poisoned. Tsunade sent team Kakashi out to Suna to help in any way they could. On the way they met up with Temari, and travelled to Suna as quickly as they could. When they arrived Kankurou was in his last day, and there was nothing they could do to save him. Sakura said she could help and was led to see him, and to everyone’s surprise she was able to extract the poison and get the Kazekage's brother into the safe zone. Afterwards she made an antidote to the poison, and had enough for three extra doses after finishing up with Kankurou.
Chiyo, one of the elders of Suna, noted the similarities between Sakura and Tsunade. Sakura informed her that she was the Sannin's apprentice, and it was because of her that she was able to save Kankurou. Soon enough they were told that it was Sasori who had poisoned the boy, and team Kakashi, along with Chiyo, was sent out to find and recapture Gaara. They travelled quickly to the location, meeting up with team Gai. Their team was sent to destroy the seals at other locations while Sakura smashed the giant rock in front of the cave where the trail ended. Inside they found Deidara sitting on Gaara's chest, and Sasori being... well, Sasori.
Deidara ran off, followed by Kakashi and Naruto, and Chiyo and Sakura stayed behind to battle Sasori. It was an epic battle to say the least (in the anime it lasted eight full episodes), the two Suna nin both being puppeteers. Sakura at one point was used as a puppet by Chiyo and was heavily poisoned by Sasori, healing herself with some of the antidote she had left. After that there was only one phial, but it was no real matter—before one of them could become poisoned again, Sakura was stabbed in the stomach by Sasori, spearing her vital organs and poisoning her with one fell swoop. Luckily enough Chiyo was there to save her, and together the two kunoichi defeated the puppet Sasori by stabbing him through the heart. In his last breath he told Sakura about the meeting he was supposed to have with Kabuto in ten days’ time as a prize for her survival.
When they caught up with Kakashi and Naruto, Sakura attempted to revive Gaara, only to find that he was already dead. After many a fruitless attempt Chiyo gave the last of her energy to healing the Kazekage, exchanging her own life for Gaara's. She told Sakura not to throw her life away for an old woman, as someday she would surpass Tsunade herself. With tears in her eyes, the roseate attended Chiyo's funeral, crying on Naruto's shoulder the whole time. Team Kakashi returned home afterwards, only to be send out after meeting the new members of their team—Sai, who was promptly punched for being a douche bag, and Yamato, who would be taking over for their previous sensei while he was out of commission.
The new team didn’t really work at first, but eventually they began to work as a team, listening to one another and combining their skills to get the job done. It went for years this way, and eventually Sakura surpassed her own expectations by making jounin at age eighteen and ANBU by twenty. When she joined the ANBU ranks, she heard whispers of something worse than Akatsuki – steam and air-powered weapons called guns; hallucenagentic drugs, unsanctioned hits and corrupt governments. The words troubled her , and in her spare time, she drew up plans for potential situations – mostly camps where she could support small groups of people, but these were soon put in use when Konoha was attacked from the inside by the gang Kurai. It was captured, her shishou was dragged off of her throne, and the village well into chaos.
Sakura left the village and travelled in search for support, taking those who needed the protection along with her. The situation in Konoha eventually turned so bad that she left the village completely, taking refuge anywhere where she and her comrades could set up tents without them being burnt down.
The kunoichi has lived like this for a while, running Hozuki [the rebel alliance] with compassion and skill, her training in the field of genjutsu being the saving point for her camps. During this time she formed an impromptu alliance with Nagato and Konan to bring herself support via Amegakure, and met who she thought was her true love, Uchiha Itachi. They fell apart when he was sent on a mission and never returned.
Things went downhill from there and Kurai grew closer to discovering her base, and she soon set out with Naruto to find allies anywhere she could. Within the time she was gone Kurai closed in, stalking the pink-haired medic and waiting until she revealed her base – and when she arrived back home, shit hit the fan. Immediate evacuation was required but a few of Hozuki’s shinobi were captured, Sakura included as she had given herself in to protect the others. The leader of Kurai, Seishou Miyoko, forced Sakura to watch as she flattened her camp, leaving behind a barren wasteland.
Sakura has been imprisoned by Kurai for nearly a year now, and is losing hope – in the back of her mind, though, she knows her people will come for her.[/spoilers][/blockquote][/spoiler]

“Didn't you know? Women have to be strong in order to survive!” – Haruno Sakura, age 17

Five years had made Sakura an old woman, in more ways than just her age. She had grown up; blossomed into a beautiful flower in the time it had taken for a seemingly peaceful time to grow over the shinobi realm. Nine years for her to train, nine to learn just how she had survived, nineteen to learn. Her body had grown toned and strong, for she had thought that if her body was strong, her heart and mind would be strong enough to cope with the loss all those years ago…
Today Sakura was supposed to be working in hospital tent for a while, saving lives and then heading off to work in the front lines, trying to keep everything in order and everyone safe. It had been slow since Akatsuki had disappeared; the only real issue now was the gangs… Sakura could not recall the lat really traumatic injury she had dealt with; it was every day now that she was healing people from near-death; those who knew of the encampment knew of her powers, and knew that she could fix them. It was normally easy for her, but kids… Of course, when it was children she was nearly a wreck.
The kunoichi had no children of her own, but that did nothing to deter her love for them. She was horribly compassionate, and every time that a child came in crying she felt as if it were her child that were injured, and took the time to calm them down before healing them and sending them home. Parents were grateful for her care and attention, often leaving notes or thank-you cards in her mailbox...sometimes gifts were left as well, and that always made her day, but she knew that the stream would never end. Not anytime soon; no matter how many she healed, more would always return. And she couldn’t always fix them, either.
People drifted down the spaces between the tents, and Sakura could hear the happy laughter and gossip that were issuing from some of the tents—teenaged girls that had been forced out of their homes. It was great that she could bring some comfort to the people for now, but Sakura always had a nagging feeling that it would not last forever, and it wouldn’t—this was the shinobi world. Sakura and her comrades lived, fought and died for their safety, and it would come as no true surprise when some nutcase decided that they were going to go to greater lengths to get what they wanted. The only issue with Sakura leaving to deal with this was the civilian factor…they could not protect themselves, and they could not tell when such a thing was about to happen. It was a terrible thought, but it was one that was necessary…Sakura had learned that being prepared for everything was the best way to keep herself and the others safe.
Of course, nothing was really ever safe…even the haven of rebels was someplace that could be destroyed…and of course the threat of one of their ninja going rouge loomed over like a dark cloud. It had been known to happen, after all.
Sakura’s hands tightened on the now empty cup, her brow furrowing as she fought off more residual thoughts of why…today was going to be one of those brooding days, she supposed...Sakura had become a master brooder over the years. She had an awful lot of time to think during downtime, considering it wasn’t often that she left the village. Sakura released her grip on the cup before it broke—it was beginning to crack—and wandered back inside, zipping the canvas door shut behind her. She could probably leave it open, but it was too cold in her tent anyway.
The kunoichi set the cup in the dish bin, pushing pink locks behind her ear. It had been a long time since it had been short—Sakura had grown it out again when she realized that it was nearly impossible to pull her hair back in the short style that she had sported in her teenage years, and so she had let it grow. A veil of pink silk now cascaded down her back, ending around her waist. She liked her hair, but was not attached…so she said. Everybody knew that Haruno Sakura was rather touchy about her hair, but only when it came to cutting it; it had been a few years since her last haircut, but what of it? Hinata’s and Ino’s hair was longer and they never got teased…
Regardless, she took an elastic from around her wrist, pulling her hair back into their pigtails before heading into the section she had deemed her room. It was nice, she supposed as she looked around at the cozy space, but it was nothing special. She didn’t spend a whole lot of time in her tent anymore, so she hadn’t really seen the need to jazz it up…plain sheets, plain furniture…plain clothing. Sakura let out another sigh, opening the wooden door that led to her closet. Her tongue rested between her lips as she figured out what to wear…not like she really had much of a choice, anyway.
The kunoichi reached for her customary attire that she had taken to wearing—red shirt with a low back, mesh underneath, with the black shorts and pouches that she had chosen to go along with it. Katana always in tow, she tended to check it every so often just to make sure it was still there. Her boots rose to her knees; the very same pair she had always worn.
Sakura finished pulling the crimson fabric over her hair, reaching for the gloves that she so loved. They had also changed over the years, and now sported metal on the backs as her sensei’s once had. She pulled them up to her elbows, cracking her fingers experimentally. Sakura had changed these when she had turned 18, and decided that the fingerless, elbow-length design complimented her form much better than the short, wrist-length ones. These were soon matched with her arm guards, which she found could be rather itchy some days… The kunoichi pulled on her kunai holster, and untied her hair before running a brush through it. Sakura tied her Leaf hitai-ate, running her fingers through the glossy strands with a sigh. It was a pain to apply makeup, so Sakura forwent it, instead leaving her room and closing the door behind her.
She reached the door, and grabbed her medic’s pack from the hook in the hallway. The kunoichi snapped it on to it’s regular place. Sakura took a deep breath, her hand resting on the doorknob. Another day, another happy façade that would be used to fool her comrades. It wasn’t often she had to make it seem as if she was happy, but today was an exception. She could not stop worrying about the future…hopefully a smile and a wave could cover it.
Sakura pulled the door open, stepped out and closed it behind her. If she was half as good an actress as she was a kunoichi, she’d be just fine.
