- Activation
- The Kouki Seigyo, as the name so blatantly implies, is the power to control raw energy in its most basic form. The user’s chakra network, from birth if their lineage to the clan is strong enough, is lined with a small amount of the raw energy that grants this clan their abilities. To truly be able to activate this power, however, the user must be put in a high-danger situation, so the energy becomes strong enough as it grows to accommodate the danger factor. Only then will the energy within the clan member be high enough to actually manipulate, and the chakra network evolves into energy channels.
- The Kekkei Genkai of the Seishou clan typically lies mostly dormant inside most members. Most members can access the barest and most basic of abilities (ie, can detect energy sources around them, cause outside potential energy to burst, etc), but have no ability to take the energy into themselves and meld it into any kind of attack or defense form. Those who do not have the fully actualized Kouki Seigyo can still perform regular nin, gen, and taijutsu, utilizing normal chakra. They have a natural resistance to genjutsu, but are weak to taijutsu. Members with the actualized Kouki Seigyo, however, have morphed chakra networks that no longer support that method of technique, and can no longer perform moves that require chakra (ie, no clones, shunshin, etc) and have to find ways to use their kekkei genkai to compensate for the loss.

- General
[li]As stated before, Kouki Seigyo is the ability to control energy. The user’s chakra network is unlike the normal of an ordinary ninja. It is laced and dominated by a stronger power; pure, and until it is used, potential energy. The amount of energy that can be held within the body varies per person; in this regard it behaves much like normal chakra, and as a matter of fact, the amount of energy they hold and the chakra they could have hold had they retained a chakra network would be the same, since the channels are the same size and hold the same capacity. - However, if the user tries to take in more energy than their body can hold, it will result in catastrophic results. The energy will crush them from the inside out. Blood channels will expand under the high energy and bust open, causing severe internal bleeding. Bones will first fracture and then splinter as the atoms are excited into a state they can't stay whole in. Organs will collapse on themselves as the energy disrupts their structures. When the body takes in too much energy, it is unable to process it into potential. It changes into kinetic, and all other energy within the body is also changed-- it's an all or nothing phenomena.
- The exception to this is if the energy is released fast enough. Say the Seishou member takes the potential energy from a large stone on the top of a hill while at full energy capacity. So long as the user releases the energy in some way, with an attack or just putting the energy back within moments, hardly any damage will be taken.
[/li][li]Usage/Powers
- The way this kekkei genkai is used is simple enough. Forces. Upon the user’s wish, the potential energy in their body becomes kinetic; it is in this moment that they must exert the force. It can be used as an almost wind like attack, but more powerful. It is almost impossible to not be pushed backwards, depending on the force used, and it can't just be dispelled.
- A clan member could, for short periods of times, create a field of energy around them. It would sap their chakra at a constant rate, but would protect them completely from any and all physical attacks. With enough beating, the field will collapse.
- The energy can also be used as a offensive force. In a style that may seem to imitate the Gentle Fist of the Hyuuga clan, a Seishou member can use energy-imbued strikes to disturb their opponents body. However, instead of affecting the chakra networks, the precise hits could cause mass damage to the opponent's body by causing miniature explosions that could rupture the areas hit by creating a exponential increase in cell/atom activity, effectively making the area burst from the hyperactivity.
- In addition, a Seishou member can be within a medium attack distance (5 ~ 20 feet) and manage to 'hit' their opponent with a wave of energy. However, the further away the target is, and the longer the attack has to travel, the weaker the hit will be upon contact. The energy dissipates into the air as it goes. However, the Kouki Seigyo can also produce projectiles of condensed energy, which dissipate less when fired off and stay more centered.
- The Kouki Seigyo also acts as a complete protection against Genjutsu. As Genjutsu affects the chakra in the head, and the Kouki Seigyo modifies the chakra networks so that they don't host chakra but instead house pure energy, there is nothing to be manipulated in the case of genjutsu. However, this is fairly balanced by the inability to perform any nin or genjutsu themselves.
[/li][li]Inanimate vs Animate
[li]Energy is known to be found everywhere—in both living and nonliving objects. However, the average Seishou member typically only manipulates the energy found in nonliving things. That energy is much easier to handle and to contain within ones self, and it has a much less risk of harming the clan member. The energy found in living things is much higher in concentration, and per cell—the constant activity would be far too high in concentration to withhold, and would lead to massive damage to the user. Even if they attempted to release the energy right away in some form would be too dangerous for the average member, as even that moment would affect the channels and make them burst, causing the user’s atoms to explode apart from one another due to the high velocity movement.
[/li][li]However, there are a few masters of the Kouki Seigyo that have managed to learn the precise control needed to be able to take in live energy—even these Seishous tend to use it in very small amounts. For example, a quarter of the energy found in an average sized tree would be enough to completely fill their energy stores and still have the potential to overload their body, but it’s more volatile and tends to be more difficult to control. It’s a mostly forbidden art within the clan, and it is stressed to younger Seishous never to attempt this technique. Those who do try from such a young age will typically end up either on the brink of death with injuries that will never fully recover, or dead.
[/li][li]Further testing with the Kouki Seigyo, and experimentation, has led to the last leader—Seishou Miyoko—with more solid and founded energy channels that are more difficult for the energy to break away from. With this artificially enhanced kekkei genkai, she can handle larger amounts of energy inside of her at once, and be able to take in more at one time and have an extended period to release it—however, this does not mean ‘extended’ as in minutes or any substantial time as that. Instead, the previous second or two that is typical of the ‘masters’ is multiplied to perhaps as much as ten to twenty seconds before she would harm herself (depending on the amount of energy), and even then it takes massive amounts of control and concentration.
[/li][li]Miyoko is reluctant to use this technique in very large-scale, though, due to the deathly risk. If she is distracted even minutely, or holds it in for a second longer than her body can take, she will face death. When used properly, she still is severely affected afterwards—the amount of pressure inside of her has disturbs organs and bloodlines, as well as normal senses and movement. She has only done this on such a large scale once—on the Hozuki camp. However, in smaller uses, this style can be used to create massive energy fields to protect many people, or fire off enormous ‘bullets’ (a general term, since they are more like missile-sized) that cause massive explosions at a long-distance, and other modifications to regular techniques. [/li][li]Characteristics While Using
- The user's eyes will begin to glow slightly while manipulating any sort of energy; kinetic or potential.
- While actively using their energy manipulation, a Seishou often will close their eyes and instead feel the attacks directed at them and the ones they produce, so as to ignore any distractions while battling.
- The Kouki Seigyo's techniques are neither invisible nor unavoidable. When used, the jutsu will create ripple-like disturbances in the air-- although it would normally be hard to see, any ninja paying attention would be able to recognize the difference and avoid an attack.

What It Does: By touching a strong source of potential energy, such as a set trap or a boulder at the top of a hill, the user can absorb most of its energy. This energy is stored inside their body and can be released in her kinetic energy techniques, making them more powerful or increasing their knockback as appropriate. Stored energy can be released all at once or it can be spread out over multiple attacks, and they can store and release energy from multiple sources. An object that had its potential energy removed will move and/or fall very slowly for a little while.

What It Does: This is a passive ability that almost all Seishou members hold—even those without the activated Kouki Seigyo, due to the dormant energy still latent in their chakra networks. The Seishou member has the ability to feel energy moving around them—although a ninja can mask his or her chakra signature, they cannot hide the energy of their being. The higher ranked the Seishou, the further away they can sense energy forms. In addition, they can also tell size and how many are in a group, with enough practise.

What It Does: By making three handseals, the user can trigger any strong source of potential energy in their immediate area, with explosive results. Commonly used to destroy objects with springs in them, such as watches, locks or other little devices. This technique is not terribly powerful, but it is useful in many situations.

What It Does: This technique allows the user to throw up a temporary shield in front of them that deflects both projectiles and ranged attacks, ie, kunai and fireballs. However, it is cast only where the user holds out their palm-- a literal shield, and leaves the user open to attacks from behind if they do not pay enough attention. A strong enough attack can break the shield, with enough force, depending on the user's strength.

What It Does: The user spreads their stance for balance and thrusts their palm out. They fires a pulse of kinetic energy that spreads out in front of them but does not travel very far. At extreme close range, this attack can forcefully knock the enemy back about 10 feet, as if they had been hit by a small car. Can result in concussion and knock the breath out of the opponent. At medium range it can deflect a projectile attack, or knock the enemy back slightly but forcefully, as if they had walked into a wall, dazing them. This attack is wide enough that it is near impossible to dodge at close range, but it is easily avoided if the opponent keeps their distance. The attack takes a lot of focus, and leaves the user open to attack from behind. In addition, it can backfire if not focused properly.

Cons:: Requires much focus-- if distracted, the user will not direct the energy in the right direction, and it will instead burst at their hands, causing potential damage to the user. What It Does: While in midair, the user swings their arm as if throwing a kunai. They fires an absurdly fast kinetic energy projectile from their hand that hits the ground, making a small but powerful shockwave on impact. The chakra projectile “glances” off the ground, so the blast is more of an oval that faces the user than a perfect circle, about 10 feet long and 5 feet across. This also means that a direct hit will very forcefully hurl the target into the air, and depending on the power, have the strength to give a concussion or crack bones.

Cons:: Requires advanced control of kouki seigyo. The projectile is hard to control and aim, which means the chances of a direct hit are ridiculously slim-- usually the opponent is just blown back by the resulting shockwave. Can backfire. - Jutsu Name: Miwaku no Konki Happa (Energy Blast Lure)

What It Does: To avoid engaging an opponent at long range, a Seishou can focus their energy into compressed darts and fire at a very high trajectory that is more or less aimed at their opponent. The chakra-infused darts build up massive amounts of kinetic energy as they fall, and they make sizable shockwaves of considerable power that leave small craters when they hit the ground, but it is easy to dodge. The point of this technique is actually not hitting the opponent so much as forcing a ranged opponent towards the user into a close-ranged battle, or else forcing them to seek cover.

Cons: Requires a lot of energy-- depending on the amount of projectiles sent into the air. About a full eighth of total stores. Friendly fire possible. Max three times per battle. - Jutsu Name: Konki no Myaku (Energy Pulse)

What It Does: This is a technique typically used to force many opponents back to try and retreat and recuperate. The user takes a deep breath and then concentrates their energy outwards, sending a literal pulse of energy from their body that, depending on the proximity of the enemy, can fling them back or make them stagger, dazed. Strength of pulse depends on the user. Can also be used to deflect a multitude of projectiles at once.

Cons: Can backfire and cause damage to the user instead. Requires a hefty amount of energy—from a sixteenth to a tenth of the user’s total amount. - Jutsu Name: Konki no Tengai (Energy Dome)

What It Does: The user creates a dome around them made completely of potential energy. It acts as a shield that protects the user from all angles (basically an improved and enlarged Konki no Toku), and has all the characteristics otherwise of the Toku. It works well as a temporary use (normally to protect the user while searching a energy source to replenish themself during battle), but is very ill suited for long term battle use.

Cons: Drains the user's energy reserves at a slow but constant rate, with spikes in sappage as the shield is struck. Can result in complete drainage of user's energy if not careful to dispel the technique. - Jutsu Name: Kanousei no Kyuuzou (Potential Explosion)

What It Does: A more advanced form of Kanousei no Anrokku. An energy-aware Seishou uses this technique much to their advantage, seeing as it does not actually require any energy from their own stores. Instead, since the user can sense large amounts of potential energy, with enough control over their kekkei genkai the user can turn that energy into kinetic with enough focus. Whatever the object is (a stone, weapon, etc), it will explode with the sudden change, unable to maintain shape as the atoms begin to move against each other in a unstabilizing fashion.

Cons: The user must be fairly close to the object, depending on rank, putting them in range to be struck by shrapnel. Requires concentration that the opponent can use to spring an attack—they will be distracted for five to ten seconds, depending on rank. - Jutsu Name: Konki no Fuusa (Energy Blockade)
Rank: B-A depending on thickness of ‘blockade’ and time held up
What It Does: Similar to the Konki no Toku, this technique is merely a more advanced form. The energy put into it is exponentially higher than in the Toku—the shield of energy that is put up is much more stable, and can take much more damage before giving out. Will repel other A rank jutsu, though will shatter after enough hits.

Cons: Requires large amounts of energy—at least an eighth of total reserves to start. Saps energy if it is kept up when hit repeatedly. Leaves user open to attacks from behind if not using situational awareness. - Jutsu Name: Konki no Tengai Haretsu (Explosive Energy Dome)

What It Does: After having created the original Konki no Tengai, instead of letting the dome just drop, they can instead expel the energy in a surge of kinetic energy. This results in a large shockwave that expels from all angles around the Seishou member. It will only have an effect if the opponent is nearby enough to be caught in the blast (in a perimeter of fifteen to twenty feet). This technique requires a large amount of energy from the user, and can, if used while unfocused, crush the user and catch them off guard, causing concussion and knocking them off their feet and leaving them open to retaliation.

Cons: Can only be used a max of twice per battle. Requires a full fifth of total energy reserves Needs to be close range to have any effect. If user does not focus the energy outwards, it will instead rush towards them and crush/stagger them, leaving them vulnerable and potentially concussed or otherwise broken. - Jutsu Name: Sessen Konki no Bakudan (Close Combat Energy Bomb)

What It Does: To avoid engaging an opponent at close range, the user can shoot a small kinetic energy projectile at the ground right in front of them. It explodes at their feet, knocking their opponent back and hurling them into the air. This is a emergency technique, made to get out of a tight position so that the clan member can retreat and, usually, gather more energy. The effects depend on the power and size of the projectile-- it can range from bruises from the impact after being flung backwards, to broken bones and concussions at the explosion. It is not meant to be an offensive jutsu, but affects both user and opponent in that way while acting as a offensive. Once per battle.

What It Does: The user forms a small ball of energy in their palm, and then shoots it towards the opponent, at an incredibly high speed. If it hits, the opponent will be sent backwards, and depending on where the bullet hit/how large it was, can have up to broken or cracked bones and internal bleeding. Ranked A for potential to cause death if the bullet hits the target over the heart, or in the head, which would cause massive amounts of trauma.
Element: None
Cons: Requires time; a minimum of ten seconds) to form the bullet. If concentration is lost or enemy interrupts the formation, will result in an outward explosion that will affect user and opponent if too close. Will break user’s bones in hand and potentially more if backfires. - Jutsu Name: Konki no Dageki (Energy Strike)

What It Does: This technique can only be utilized by Seishou members with very advanced control of their kekkei genkai—higher levelled jounin and up. It is a style of fighting used at very close range, that has been said to resemble the Hyuuga clan’s Gentle Fist technique. The user focuses large amounts of kinetic energy to their fingertips, and upon striking, can cause massive amounts of damage to the struck area. The energy, upon hitting the opponent, shoots through their flesh and disrupts everything in its way. For example, if the strike hits a bone, the bone will shatter because of the highly concentrated nature of this technique. This is due to the fact that the energy itself will cause the atoms in the bone to move rapidly against one another in such a fashion that it won’t be able to stay solid, and depending on the strength of the hit, will splinter apart.

Cons: Must be close range. Must have excellent energy control. If it backfires, the technique will shatter the user’s own bones in their hand up to their shoulder, depending on the strength of the strike. Significant energy loss—depending on the strike strength and reserves of the user, this style of fighting can only be used for a range of two to five minutes. - Jutsu Name: Konki no Shinjuu (Energy Double Suicide)

What It Does: This justu is very much a last ditch effort. The user calls together the remaining energy they have within them, and summons it together at a centered point of buildup in their hands. By clapping their hands together, the Seishou creates a massive explosion of energy, even stronger than the Sessen Konki no Bakudan. This explosion severely injures the user, and if the opponent was in range, the opponent. The range depends on the amount of energy the Seishou had left, but is typically within a five to fiteen feet radius. This explosion is very abrupt, and incredibly fast, but has the same effects on the user as does the opponent. It is considered a suicide tactic, because even if the user did survive, they would not for long-- being so close to the explosion results in broken/exploded bones and ruptured organs, with massive internal bleeding as well as severe head trauma. If the opponent is close, the same injuries will result, lessening the further they were from the explosion.
Note: This jutsu is only taught to Seishou members as a way to avoid enemy capture, and to hide their clan's secrets-- the explosion calls for all their energy, leaving none behind, and collapses their energy pathways, effectively removing almost all traces of their kekkei genkai from the body.

Cons: Close range for full effect. Uses all remaining energy in the user. Suicide tactic-- unless immediately tended, death is most probable.

Every clan starts out with something they want to achieve. Each goal varies, and as that initial group of people, that family, grows closer to their objective, their abilities are defined. Their ways are spread, their kekkei genkai’s are created. Their rules set, their characteristics laid down.
Many years ago, in the general area of where Otogakure would later arise, there was a married couple. They were ninjas, but were particularly interested in trying to figure out how to utilize energy in their line of work. They had always been interested in physics, and the mere thought of being able to control pure, raw, natural energy was something that would reach high above most achievements. They studied atoms and the basics that made up science, hoping to figure out a way to allow them to be able to manipulate energy without the use of any other tool but their own body.
Kinoki and Yashinku were a perfect match for this kind of mission. Kinoki was shy, but brilliant. She had the intelligence to come up with astounding ideas, but lacked the courage to voice her them. Yashinku was an overly ambitious, and smart in his own right. He had the determination to keep with whatever he had set himself to, though he did not hold the means within himself to come up with the thoughts that would spark into their future clan. He encouraged Kinoki to try new ideas, and she helped him to test out the far-stretched ones that he came up with. Even with their balance of strengths, they would work for close to a decade on their project.
Though not for naught. It would come to them that perhaps to control the energy, it would work to combine kinetic and potential energy with the chakra forces found in ninja. The only question was how. It was known one could disrupt the chakra, and even change it to hold elemental attributes, but this wasn’t the same as before… It was just pure energy. The active, and inactive kind. Very simple, in theory.
It took many tests and many different trials done on themselves to finally figure out a way to isolate the raw energy into the chakra network, and stay in that form, unable to disperse until the user called on it. It was done by altering the channels to be more… of an energy attractant, per se, and able to house the raw force. It took only a short time to figure out that by concentrating on the energy around them, it was easy to feel it. To feel large stores of potential energy, kinetic energy in use. Like a constant buzz at the back of their heads that could no longer be reversed. Even stones held potential energy, solid objects, whilst those in movement felt much brighter in ‘tone,’ easier to feel and identify.
To begin with, they tried many times to take in the energy from those objects into themselves. However, Kinoki and Yashinku were met with a barrier; with each attempt, moments after came excruciating pain from inside of them. The pain made them, on instinct, release the excess energy within them in a rapid burst, often destroying the things around them with the force of the ‘explosion’. It was more like a force field extending outwards from their bodies about twenty feet before dispersing into the area around them. The more open the area, the longer the ‘waves’ traveled. It was then they concluded that their ability, which they had justly dubbed Kouki Seigyo for the control of energy they were granted, did not allow them to withhold any more energy than they could while at full capacity. Since the chakra networks were now changed to be like… Energy channels, however, when on low, potential energy could be taken from surrounding objects to make up for the lack of energy inside of them.
This was still hard to do to begin with, for the couple. It became easier with time, and their abilities with the Kouki Seigyo grew. They found the force waves they sent off by accident could also be done in more controlled bursts, even in ‘bombs’ of energy. With enough concentration, a shield could be formed with energy that deflected most everything. The only way to get past it was to bang it apart, which given their control, did not take much. The sensory system the technique gave them was infallible. You could hide your chakra; you could not hide the energy you gave off, since it was constantly in use.
Kinoki and Yashinku had succeeded. To their colleagues, they were nicknamed Seishou for their ability; Energy. They adopted that as their new surname to honor their discoveries.
It was soon after their success that they bore two children; twins, one boy and one girl. It was a surprise to see that both children had managed to inherit the ability that had come about by genetic and chakra exploitation, but the nature of the Kouki Seigyo itself made it possible. The Seishou name became known throughout the Rice country; their accomplishments were a feat unto itself, and now they were becoming a clan to carry on such a gene.
The twins, Riroku and Katani, decided to use their inherited abilities to defend their country, like their parents. So they would grow and age and fight. And eventually, after their own children had had children, the two founders of the Sieshou clan had died. The brilliance was not forgotten, but the knowledge to recreate the clan had managed to become lost in their papers. It would take years of searching and deciphering to be able to recreate or modify the kekkei genkai.
However, after the formation of the hidden villages, a problem soon arose. Their clan needed a definite leader.
With the birth of the twins, this had been a problem that the clan had not felt the need to absolve. There was not one particular head—with two different lines that stuck mostly together as a family, when Otogakure said that they needed an individual leader, the clan was thrown into turmoil. How would they pick? Each line voted for their own ‘leaders’ when they attempted a more democratic resolution. After months of fighting and bickering, it was finally decided that the line that would lead the clan would not be decided by the elders of the clan, but instead the next generation.
The eldest children of the newest generation, each around ten years old, were forced to fight one another. The initial thought would be that it would simply be the winner who would reign as the next clan leader while their Seishou parent ruled in their steed until they came of age at fifteen—those years between their victory would be spent preening them for the responsibilities that were supposed to be handed to them.
But the battle did not turn out how they planned—the great-grandson of Riroku, Yasui, activated his kouki seigyo mid-battle, and in the resulting energy explosion, killed his cousin. It was an unanticipated event, and caused an uproar in Katani’s line. However, the results of the battle were final—Riroku’s line would rule, with Yasui at its head, until further notice. The titles of Reigning Line and Common Line were given to the respect branches of the Seishou clan, and soon anger and outrage began to fester into deep-seeded discontent.
For seventeen years following the first Child Battle, Riroku’s line ruled sternly over their Katani cousins. Although they weren’t treated as slaves or even obligated to even stay, the clan’s drive to compete with one another kept them together as rivals, with the simple knowledge that the Commons had to adhere to the rulings of the Reigning, regardless of how much they protested. This went for decisions of alliances in the clan, choices in how their designated clan lands were used, and even extended to arranged marriages.
But then Katani’s descendants proposed another child battle. The idea was balked at—the first had resulted in such a manner that it was thought no one would want to repeat it. But After much argument, it was decreed only fair that they had the chance to fight for the ruling position once more. The clan elders figured that it would be a good way to ensure that the most powerful line was always on top, despite the ultimate end results of the battle being deemed ‘unfortunate.’
And so the oldest child of Yasui, and the oldest child of the Common line’s leader Hajimete, battled. Although Yasui’s son was a year older (the fight was held when Hajimete’s son reached ten years old), he was beat when the ten year old activated his Kouki Seigyo, and used the sudden energy burst to strike his chest and give him a shock of pure energy to his heart, throwing him into cardiac arrest and then death.
Following this generation, the Child Battle became a tradition observed religiously by the Seishous. The oldest child of each generation is trained from the time they can walk in an attempt to gain the upper hand—the earlier the better. In certain times, it is hopeless. Depending on when the children are born, and how early their parents bear them, the age differences in the eldest can be between a year to seven. When the age difference is this large, however, the battle is viewed negatively—it is unfair to the younger child. But that does not mean the battle halts, which may be a testimony to the Seishous borderline sickening obsession with following tradition and inability to escape the obsolete ways in which they have been raised to function.
Currently, the Reigning Line lies in the hands of the original rulers—Riroku’s line. The original leader of this generation was supposed to be the child that won the child battle fifteen years prior—Seishou Miyoko. However, when an emergency termination of her pregnancy following a fight left her unable to have any other children of her own, she handed over the title of leader back to her father upon her younger sister’s refusal, and became a wandering ninja instead, and would later go on to create the gang, Kurai.
After a fight within the Seishou clan, it was decided that it would be radically unsuited to have the same ‘oldest vs oldest’ criteria, once Miyoko could not have children, given that Yemuri’s child Akinato was already born and two years old when Miyoko had her pregnancy terminated. Hikaru was only ten at the time, and would be unable to reproduce for many years still—the age difference would verge on a decade.
So the child battle was decided to take place between the two oldest children of the younger siblings of Miyoko and Yameri. So now, Seishou Hikaru’s and Miku’s children, Ayume and Hinabe, are to be the next deciding line-fighters of the Seishou clan. However, this will not occur for another nine years, when Ayume turns ten and Hinabe twelve.
Currently, the Seishou have split. Miyoko's line, the Riroku line, sides unconditionally with Kurai. The Katani line, however, is not quite as loyal, though for the moment also sides with Kurai for the most part, so as to avoid absolute clan destruction.
